With nearly two decades of experience in veterinary nursing, corporate consulting, and education, Vicky brings a powerful blend of clinical expertise, strategic insight, and heartfelt mentorship to the profession. As a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Nutrition, she’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry while staying grounded in what matters most: advancing patient care and supporting the humans behind it.

Vicky has spent her career helping veterinary professionals build real-world skills, grow their confidence, and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the field. Whether she’s leading in-clinic training through VetXIR, offering specialist nutrition support, or inspiring listeners on her podcast, her mission is clear: to help vet nurses and techs feel capable, confident, and truly seen.

My Story: From First Word to First Job

My very first word was “cat”—which probably tells you everything you need to know.

I grew up in the back rooms of a busy vet clinic, watching my mum care for animals with a kind of quiet magic. While most kids played with dolls or built Lego castles, I was bandaging stuffed toys and memorizing the names of every patient on the whiteboard. That clinic wasn’t just a workplace—it was home.

So it was no surprise that my first job was right there, sweeping floors, walking dogs, and doing whatever else needed doing. I was learning the rhythm of clinic life before I even realized it had shaped me.

At one point, I tried to take a different path and went off to university to study secondary education. I’ve always loved teaching—but no matter how much I leaned into the classroom, I couldn’t ignore the tug of the treatment room. So, I did both. I completed my education degree and my veterinary nursing qualification at the same time.

Because deep down, I knew this was it. This was home base. Veterinary nursing wasn’t just a job—it was the calling I couldn’t walk away from.
